According to Russian tour operators, demand for Krasnodar Krai may rise 30% during the summer season. Bookings for the destination are in full swing, and they extend up till October.

Right now we can observe a surge of interest in Krasnodar Krai. This has to do both with the Olympics, with the latest happenings in the Crimea and with the volatile currencies. There probably will not be a drastic spike in tourist flow; I would predict an increase of about 30%,” says Domestic Tourism Director at Solvex-Travel Sergei Strebkov.

According to him, Sochi, Anapa, Gelendzhik and Tuapse enjoy the biggest demand. Sergei Strebkov also added that those who want to spend a holiday in Sochi will be able to go on an excursion to the Olympic facilities at any time.

General Director of Delfin Sergei Romashkin believes that demand for Krasnodar Krai will grow 15-20% thanks to the Olympics, and the other 10% may come from the Crimea’s tourist flow.

Head Specialist for Gelendzhik, Abkhazia and Sochi at Roza Vetrov Tatyana Khramova also says that the early booking numbers indicate approximately a 30% growth in demand for Krasnodar Krai.

Right now there is widespread interest in excursion programs to Sochi among school students and foreign tourists. Our clients have already started booking rooms in the hotels of Rosa Khutor ski resort, which will open on March 22. This year we are working only with 4-5* hotels in Krasnaya Polyana. The lowest price of bed and breakfast in a 4* hotel starts at 4.5 thousand rubles ($127) per night,” she said.

According to the Resort and Tourism Ministry of Krasnodar Krai, more than 11 million people spend their holidays in the region annually, and in 2013 this figure was 11.6 million. As of February 1, 2014, local resorts have been visited by about 500 thousand tourists. The number of offers for spa resorts in the region is constantly growing.

Currently, 190 spa and resort organizations provide balneotherapy services. These organizations include 110 balneotherapy facilities, 75 mud bath facilities and 23 well-rooms with potable mineral water, with public access to 11 of these well-rooms. Also, 19 children’s spa resorts are working in the region.

The Kuban River has about 500 tourist sights and about 150 excursion itineraries. The region also boasts well-developed event tourism, with 420 festivals and celebrations taking place throughout the year.
