More Than 1.5m Russians Visit Spain This Year

During the last 11 months 1 million 535 thousand Russian tourists have visited Spain. The tourist flow has risen 31.1%, according to the information given to TRN in the travel department of Moscow’s Spanish Embassy.

The total number of foreign tourists for the same period is 57.6 million people, which is the all-time highest number for Spain and a 5% year-on-year growth.

The best “providers” of tourists for Spain are the UK (13.7m), Germany (9.4m) and France (9m).

The most popular destination is Catalonia (more than 14.8m, +7.4%), then come the Balearic Islands (11m, +7.2%), and finally the Canary Islands (about 9.5m, +4%).

Roman Rybakov, the media-manager of TEZ Tour, told TRN that the company nearly doubled its tourist flow to Spain this year.
“We have launched the early booking for summer programs, and they are selling pretty well,” he said.

Operator Vremia Tour does not enjoy quite the same success.

“Our sales volumes have not changed since the last year,” said Nelly Ogurtsova, the commercial director of the company. “They are about 12 thousand tourists.”

The operator will launch early booking right after the end of the New Year holidays. Vremia Tour is currently making a shift to a new program.
