The statistics institute of Spain has published the information on the inbound tourism for the last 11 months
According to General Director of online travel agency Biletix Alexandr Sizincev, this is due to the deterioration of the macroeconomic situation in Russia.
Air ticket sales account for $4.7bn of this amount, hotel rooms - $2.4bn, railway tickets - $0.9 and tour packages - $0.3bn.
Approximately 100-110 thousand Russians are forecasted to visit Indonesia this year. According to official sources, last year this figure was 94,500 Russians. For the past three years the average growth rate of Russian arrivals has been at a steady 8-10%.
As for the Russian tourists who have visited China this year, their number amounted to 883 thousand, which is a 12% year-over-year drop
Mr. Shpilko also said that the fastest growth rate (6.1%) in terms of tourist flow was exhibited by the countries of the Far Abroad, while prior to this year the CIS showed the best growth rate results
The leaders of online travel business gathered in the Moscow ‘Aerostar’ hotel on November 14-15 for the annual conference E-Travel, with Travel Russian News magazine as the media sponsor. Representatives of more than 30 companies from Russia, Denmark, India and the UK presented reports and took part in panel discussions on the most urgent and relevant topics.
During the First Russian-Chinese Culture and Tourism Forum that took place earlier in St. Petersburg, culture ministers of Russia and China, Vladimir Medinsky and Cai Wu, signed an agreement on new cooperation programs for 2014-2016, reports the TRN correspondent.
Russian Union of Travel Industry has sent a letter to Thailand’s tourism minister Somsak Pureesrisak voicing concerns about the safety of Russian tourists in the country, as TRN magazine has learnt from the Union.
